Hammerhead Sharks in Costa Rica
October 26th, 2012
The Summer Salt Dive Center is a company that is very popular with divers and other professionals interested in seeing the rich exotic lands and ocean of Costa Rica. It is also a member of the PADI International Resort. The Summer Salt Center is located near the central area of Playas Del Coco, Costa Rica. Their staff is fully qualified and well trained in diving and catering to every need of the guests cruising with the company. For those who are looking for extra experience to further their love for diving, Summer Salt is one of the best places to pick. They have cruises and activities designed for beginners as well as professional divers. The dive company arranges for diving, snorkeling, whale watching, and even exploring the Gulf of Papagayo on the North side of Costa Rica. Since Summer Salt is registered with PADI, it makes sure that their safety precautions and measures are completely up to date and that guests will have no worries about their security. Their diving packages are accessible for all kinds of people but they only ask for one thing: the people interested in diving (regardless of their level of expertise) need to have completed a certification course in diving complete with a certificate attesting to the fact.
Location & Gear
The trips organized by Summer Salt Dive Center are located locally in Costa Rica but they also branch out to other places. Trips might be arranged for Catalina and the Bat Islands. Since the Center is affiliated with the Aggressor fleet, Summer Salt can also team up with the Aggressor cargo and take their guests to Cocos Island for an enriching experience in both diving and exploring the flora and fauna. Summer Salt usually has all kinds of equipment to hand out to their guests but they insist some things should be brought by the guests and divers themselves. Proof is required of being a fully certified diver and the guests are asked to bring along copies of their diving certificates. The dive company also asks for a log book that guests have to bring with them. The divers are asked to share their previous experiences and for those who have not had a diving experience in more than 12 months, they will be asked to take a refresher course. Summer Salt prefers that the guests bring their own diving gear. That way, the diving will be more comfortable and the divers will have more command over their own equipment as compared to the company’s which will lack familiarity. The staff on board stores and takes special care of the personal gear brought in by the divers.
When to Visit for Diving
The Summer Salt Dive Center is open year round; they do not close their company on any given day of the year (except of course in case of emergency). They have trips organized to visit the Gulf of Papagayo regardless of the time of year. Since some of the creatures of the ocean are migratory, the scenery underwater may change due to the climate and weather. For those who want to dive in warm and crystal clear water, the recommended time to visit is from April to September. For those divers who do not mind colder temperatures, the November to April time is recommended.
