Located in Playas del Coco in Guanacaste Province, Rock Divers is one of the PADI Facilities in Costa Rica that offers Diver Certification Programs and Tour Packages regardless if you are a newbie or an oldie.
Led by their owner Rocky, who started as as Divemaster and ended up being a Professional Dive Instructor who put up his own Dive Shop, Rock Divers Costa Rica has perfected this so-called “Curated Diving” where each dive is custom made for your needs and that you are guaranteed to be exploring a different dive site each day.
On top of their dive assets which is composed of several sets of scuba gears and a dive boat, their staff which includes a network of local Captains and Sea Faring Professionals is also considered one of their assets that will ensure that every travel and underwater exploration is a safe one.
As the staff and crew of Rock Divers Costa Rica has been exploring nearby reefs for over 12 years, they offer their own dive and tour packages which can be enjoyed by all levels of scuba certification.
Price for a 2-tank dive: $85
If you are looking for a quick dive that is nearby and have a glimpse of the underwater beauty of Costa Rica, then the local diving in Papagayo Gulf is the one for you.
With just a few minutes boat ride, you will start exploring Papagayo Gulf’s reef that is teeming with marine life where you can see a variety of reef fishes like butterflyfish, angelfish, damselfish and a lot more. But we have to warn you though that the visibility in this site is not as crystal clear compared to other sites, where on an ordinary day, can have at least 10 meters of underwater visibility.
Price for a 2-tank dive: $135
If you wish to see more of Costa Rica’s underwater bounty, then head to Catalina Island. This 30 minute boat ride allows you to experience diving in clear visibility that can reach up to 30 meters (100 feet).
Your underwater adventures in Catalina island can be a great starter for the true meaning of Costa Rican diving: big fish and lots of them. Here, you can see whitetip reef sharks, a variety of sea turtle, moray eels, manta rays and a thick school of fish like grunts and jacks.
Price for a 2-tank dive: $185
While Costa Rica is known for diving with big fish, there are some popular dive experience that can make you heart beat faster and one of this can be experienced in Bat island.
It’s not about swift current or a deep diving profile, it’s all about diving with one of the feared creatures of the sea: the bull sharks. Yes, you can come close face to face with bull sharks at Bat island where it has become their natural refuge. While we all know that bull sharks can potentially attack humans, diving with these sharks can be safe and fun as long as you follow all the safety procedures set by your dive guide or divemaster.
Price: $475
This entry level certification is designed for you to equip yourself with the basic knowledge and skills of scuba diving. This 4 to 5 days certification course is divided into three segments. The knowledge development, usually conducted in a classroom setting, teaches you all the laws and principles behind scuba diving. The confined water session, mostly done in a swimming pool, allows you to practice all the basic diving skills while enjoying the comforts of a freshwater pool. The actual open water dive is the realization of both the knowledge development and confined water session where you can now safely enjoy the freedom of exploring the underwater beauty of Costa Rica. But you have to remember, this is not your passport to total freedom underwater as you are bounded by the limitations of your basic skill.
Price: $ 325
If you want to upgrade your diving skills, then you can opt to sign-up for the Advanced Open Water Diver Certification course. This 2 to 3 days course allows you to equip yourself with some of the advanced diving skills where you will be exposed to new diving adventures, like night diving, deep diving up to 30 meters (100 feet), search and recovery, multi-level diving and underwater navigation.
This advanced skill can become handy for you in your future underwater adventures as some of the top dive sites in Costa Rica requires at least an advanced level of certification.
Price: $ 420
There will come a time, during the course of your diving career, that you think that you should equip yourself with rescue skills that enables you to respond to both others that need help and to your very own self. This 3 to 4 days certification course will teach you the skill on how to address panic diver, in distress diver and an unconscious diver both in surface and underwater.
Price: $ 1,200
This 4 week training course is your first step of becoming a professional diver. This will groom and expose you to the dynamics of diving where you can assist in certification courses, become a dive guide or manage a dive shop.
