This is an amazing place to visit and join the laid back lifestyle of the locals. It is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Costa Rica’s beaches are simply amazing from their white sand, golden brown sand or even the black sand hideaways.
Most of the resorts on Costa Rica offer packages and tour trips to their guests. Visiting this destination also provides water adventures such as surfing, swimming, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, yachting, scuba diving and many others. There are quite a few land tours being offered for the tourist that does not wish to get their feet wet. There are exceptional rainforests or national parks that provide activities like butterfly viewing, horseback riding, hiking, bird watching, canopy tours and many others.
If you love nature and all that it offers, than you will enjoy Costa Rica under the sea. There are many certified dive tours that are offered. There are opportunities to take a PADI resort course for the new diver or the PADI Course Instruction for the diver with more experience that would like to sharpen their dive skills. Tours are there to ensure an exciting and adventurous dive experience. Depending on the tour company that is chosen most supply a boat stocked with supplies and a dive instructor that is certified and ready to show the way. Between dives refreshments are available on board serving local fruits and refreshments. Weather conditions and water visibility may decide which of the 20 dive sites will be visited but all sites will bring a diver an underwater adventure.
One of the best spots for Pacific diving is off Drake Bay. The Cano Island or Cocos Island off the bay will bring a diver spectacular sites. These islands are home to a variety of marine life and are listed as the best place for scuba diving in Costa Rica. Jacque Cousteau referred to this area as one of the best for an amazing underwater adventure. There is something unique and interesting during each dive from the seashores to the smaller fish being eaten by the bigger fish!
The area for scuba diving off Costa Rica in the Pacific waters will surround a diver with an amazing variety of fish, invertebrates and soft corals because of the amount of plankton and marine organisms that are so rich in these waters. There are not many reefs. Natural rock formations are scattered along the floor which gives the fish an area to assemble.
Diving during the wet season can give the waters less visibility due to the river runoff but as long as the diver stays clear of the mouth of the river visibility increases. Dry season can also include strong winds which can make it more difficult to actually reach the dive destination. During a calm day during the dry season could make for an amazing dive and giving the diver experience of seeing a lot of marine life much denser than could be seen in the Caribbean.
Costa Rica diving is the place to dive for a lot of fish. The dive sites located in this area will offer snapper, sharks, grouper, moray eels, eagle rays, octopi, angelfish, parrot fish and also the possibility of giant manta rays. During their mating season turtles can be seen on the surface.
Diving around the site known as Big Scare a diver can find themselves surrounded by bull sharks that are as large as 11 feet and weighing up to 700 pounds. This site can also have strong currents and very deep dive sites. There is a dive site known as Punta Gorda where eagle rays are known to be in large groups accompanied by cow nose rays. El Jardin is a great spot to see sea fans and structures of soft coral. Cano Island has a marvelous variety of fish and other marine life. Scuba diving in this water wonderland is amazing.
Costa Rica is full of excitement and adventures for all travelers such as diving trips or the combination with rainforest tours in an amazing combo vacation retreat. Customize dive trips, jungle tours, or relaxing on the beautiful beaches away from stress and worry. Remember to bring your suntan lotion, sunglasses, and a towel.
